IMF and the World Bank create own internal cryptocurrency, Learning Coin

It is being reported by NewsBTC that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have created their own cryptocurrency for internal use only. It is being titled Learning Coin and was created so that the financial institutions could get better understanding of how distributed assets work.

For now, Learning Coin will only operate within the IMF and World Bank. The institutions are attempting to come up with use cases for the coin, such as giving rewards to employees. The primary purpose for the project, however, will be for both entities to better understand the technology.
The move is highly reminiscent of other projects recently announced such as Facebook Coin and even more so, JP Morgan Coin. It seems private blockchains are beginning to take off at an institutional level.
This comes just days after IMF Director Christine Lagarde made the statement that cryptocurrencies are "shaking the system" and called for greater monitoring of them.
Does this mean that the IMF may warm to crypto? Or just that they are going to try and take it for themselves? Stick with Chepicap for all updates!
