Coinbase launches VISA debit card that links to UK customers' accounts
Coinbase has announced the launch of a new crypto debit card in the UK. The VISA card will link directly to a customer's account, and allow them to instantly convert their crypto into fiat currency for everyday spending.
Coinbase made the announcement about the card in a blogpost. This is one of the first cards of its kind that will allow customers to directly spend their crypto holdings via conversion into fiat currency, as opposed to similar prepaid cards, which require crypto to be loaded on to them prior to use.
The card will allow customers to make payments in GBP online and in-store, and it supports conversion from not just Bitcoin (BTC), but all cryptos that are available via Coinbase.
To support the card, the broker has also launched a new app. According to the announcment, "the Coinbase Card app...enables customers to select which of their crypto wallets they will use to fund their Coinbase Card spending...The app also offers instant receipts, transaction summaries, spending categories, and more."
